National Environment and Planning Agency
(NEPA)
The National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA)
formerly the Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA) is the
Government Agency responsible for the management, conservation and
protection of the natural resources of Jamaica. The NEPA is
the national focal point for environmental information and
management in Jamaica and is so
recognized by the United Nations System.

WRA
The Water Resources Authority (WRA) is responsible for
the management, protection, and controlled allocation and use of
Jamaica's water
resources. |

ODPEM
The ODPEM is the national body responsible for
preparing the Jamaican population to deal with disaster and
emergency situations. Working in tandem with other support
agencies, the ODPEM will take the necessary actions to reduce the
impact of future disasters and major emergencies on the Jamaican
population and economy.

National Land Agency
The NLA brings together the core land
information functions of Government under one roof, and includes:
land titles; surveys & mapping; land valuation and estate
management. This merger enables the Government to build on the
synergy of these combined functions and create a modern national
land (spatial) information system to support sustainable
development.

Met Service of Jamaica
The Weather Branch is concerned with the observation and forecasting of weather
conditions over and around the island. The Climate Branch is responsible for maintaining a current database of the
climate of Jamaica and for the
utilization of this data in informing productive sectors of the
country. It consists of a Data Acquisition Section that sets up and
maintains an islandwide network of rainfall and
climatological
stations |

Jamaica Information Service
The Jamaica Information Service (JIS) is the
multifaceted information agency of the Government of Jamaica that
gathers and disseminates information on Government policies and
programmes, locally and overseas.

Ministry of Local Government
The Ministry is responsible for the policy
direction and guidance of six agencies and 13 Local
Authorities. Through these agencies and
Local Authorities, the Ministry provides an expansive range of
services to the public. |
